New Faculty
Orientation

August 16, 2010

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Office of the Executive Vice President and University Provost, we are pleased to invite you to the 2010 orientation for newly hired tenured and tenure-track faculty.  This orientation will provide an introduction to the university at large and will complement college orientations held separately.  Information on the latter events will come directly from your respective dean’s office.

At this orientation, President Michael Crow and University Provost Betty Capaldi will provide information about short and long-term plans, and student learning, research, and new local and global initiatives.  This orientation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Carson Ballroom in Old Main at the Tempe Campus on Monday, August 16, 2010, with lunch to follow with the deans and chairs/directors in attendance.  Following lunch there will be a 90 minute presentation by our Human Resources department for those who have not yet attended an HR orientation.  You are encouraged to prepare ahead of time for this portion of orientation by reading and/or completing the benefits and payroll information found on the Office of Human Resources website:

A representative from the Benefits Office will give you an overview of ASU’s healthcare, retirement, and leave plans, the reduced in-state tuition benefit, and tell you of important submission deadlines.  After the presentation, please plan to stay and take the opportunity to meet with representatives from Benefits and Payroll; they will be available to answer your questions and to assist in completing any appropriate paperwork.

A map and driving directions are located here.  Parking is available in the Fulton Center Parking Structure located just north of the Fulton Center (ASU Foundation Building) at 300 E. University Drive.  The parking structure may be accessed from University Drive on the east side of the ASU Foundation Building or from College Avenue on the west side of the building.  You may also RSVP to the All-University orientation through this site.

If you have any questions regarding this event, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We look forward to meeting you in person on August 16.

Sincerely yours,

Mark S. Searle
