This is a reminder that the DARS upgrade is scheduled for tomorrow, July 23rd.  Our original plan was to start the upgrade early in the morning.  However, we will be changing the time so as not to interfere with batch jobs that run overnight.  The new outage window for users is 5pm – 6pm.

Please contact Jennifer Malerich with any questions or concerns.

The DARS upgrade scheduled for July 16th has been postponed due to testing issues.  Our next target date for the upgrade is July 23rd.  Just a reminder that the upgrade will be scheduled to start early morning and users should only experience an outage of an hour or so at the beginning of the day.

Please contact Jennifer Malerich with any questions or concerns.

Please make note of the following:

Some DARSweb Manager users have noticed that when they remove a DUP/RPT flag from a course, save, and run a new transfer evaluation, the DUP/RPT flag is automatically reapplied. This is not an error/bug. Bryan Tinlin (from the TSD team) has advised that they have purposely set up DARS so that if the flag is on the red book (source) course, it will pass automatically to the blue book (target) course. You may see this behavior most frequently on old transfer work that was loaded in from the legacy system, but at times these flags may be added to the red book courses manually in order to ensure that they are not lost when the transfer evaluation runs.

If you find a situation where the flag(s) need to be removed but they return after running the transfer evaluation, the flag must be removed from both the blue book course and the red book course.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Good Morning!

We are going to begin the minor upgrade to the DARS system and it is planned for Wednesday July 16th.  The upgrade will be completed by 8:00 a.m.  During the upgrade the DARS system will be unavailable for use.  I will notify everyone on the status of the upgrade and when the DARS system is open.

Testing is scheduled for the DEV and QA environments.  Advisors are **not required** to do testing, but are welcome to.  Continued testing will be conducted by the DARS Team and UTO Development Team on June 16-27 to ensure proper function of the system.

This upgrade will include fixes to bugs reported by universities using the software.

Thank you,

Leticia Mayer, M.Ed.

Per the University policy starting in catalog year fall 2013, students pursuing concurrent degrees will be required to take 30 additional hours for each concurrent degree.  This change applies to degree with a requirement term of 2137 or later.  If the student has one concurrent degree with a requirement term prior to 2137 and one after 2137, the first degree will continue to have the 120 total hours requirement, but the second will have the 150 total hour requirement.  When the student is ready to graduate, neither degree will be posted until both have met all requirements.  As a result of this, the audit for students with concurrent degrees will reflect this new total hours.  Students that do not have concurrent degrees will continue to have the 120 total hours requirement.  If a student has one active concurrent, the total hours requirement will be for 150 total hours and two active concurrent degrees will have a requirement looking for 180 total hours.  Nothing else in the audit will change, and how to run audits will not change.

DARS went through an upgrade to u.achieve on March 17, 2013.  Users should not experience any loss of data integrity or basic change in functionality.  A new method for completing a CT exception was introduced, as was a new RT exception type.  Instructions for how to complete these exceptions can be found in the resources section of the eAdvisor & Major Maps page.  The new URL for u.achieve is: https://webapp4.asu.edu/dars4webadvisor/.  Please update your bookmarks.  For any questions or concerns please email DARS-q@asu.edu.
