Experienced stage manager joins ASU to mentor theater students

The Arizona State University School of Music, Dance and Theatre has announced Katie Peavey as clinical assistant professor of stage and production management.

Peavey is a freelance Equity stage manager who moved to Phoenix from Philadelphia right before the pandemic. She has been a faculty associate mentoring ASU students for the past year, as well as teaching the Introduction to Stage Management course. 

Caribbean dance expert joins School of Music, Dance and Theatre faculty

Dance educator Shola K. Roberts will be joining the dance faculty in the School of Music, Dance and Theatre at Arizona State University.

Roberts is an international award-winning professional dancer, educator, choreographer and fitness instructor from Brooklyn, New York. A proud Grenadian American, she will bring her expertise in Caribbean dance and culture to ASU. 

“I feel this is an area that may not have been tapped into, so I’m thinking about how to bring this content to a population that may not be familiar with it,” Roberts said.

ASU theater students join nationwide effort to bring awareness to gun violence

In the wake of recent mass shootings, many may feel helpless about creating change. But Arizona State University graduate student Marissa Barnathan believes that doesn’t have to be the case.

Barnathan, who is pursuing an MFA in theatre directing in the School of Music, Dance and Theatre, said everyone can use their skills to raise awareness.
