Art as advocacy: ASU grad builds bridges of connection through dance

Spring Dance Fest to feature world premieres of new dance works

Each year, Spring Dance Fest celebrates the work of dance students and faculty in the School of Music, Dance and Theatre at Arizona State University and represents a culmination of their efforts. 

This year’s presentation features an exciting collection of works created by guest choreographers, faculty and students. The eight works represent a wide range of genres and aesthetics, from hip-hop to Afro-Latin, contemporary modern to Turkish belly dancing. All of the pieces feature student performers.

The best of both worlds: Design and theater students work together on recent production

One of the great things about the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University is the chance for designers and artists from different fields to work together.

Students from The Design School and the School of Music, Dance and Theatre recently collaborated to create the lobby displays for the ASU Theatre production of “the living’life of the daughter mira.”

A new study from Arizona State University, in collaboration with the Recording Academy and Berklee College of Music Institute for Creative Entrepreneurship, is illuminating the experiences of women in the music industry to inspire a more inclusive and equitable environment.

4 dancers selected to represent ASU at regional conference

Four Arizona State University dance students  Kyla Kabat, Isabella Lepp, Karla Marquez and Fernanda Viera — have been chosen to represent ASU at the 2022 American College Dance Association (ACDA) regional conference, which will be held at the University of Oregon starting March 23. The conference brings students and faculty together to share responses to choreography and performance.
