Welcome to the Academic Alliances team, Matt and Karina!
Exciting news for the new year. Academic Alliances is happy to announce two new members to the team — please extend a warm welcome to Program Manager, Partnership Development Matt Beard and Business and Data Analyst Karina Alonso. Matt and Karina bring ASU history with them, as a staff member and alumni. Enjoy learning a little more about Matt and Karina!
Matt Beard
Prior to his role as program manager, Matt worked as a success coach with EdPlus at ASU, working directly with ASU Online students, as well as an outreach coordinator with Access ASU overseeing partnerships with nonprofit organizations. Additionally, Matt has taught as an adjunct professor at Baylor University. Matt received his Master’s of Science in Forensic Psychology from ASU. Matt is excited to continue the work of promoting MyPath2ASU transfer student pathway technology and establishing Universal Articulation partnerships with prospective community college partners across the U.S.
Karina Alonso
Coming from a linguistics background, Karina has taught at varying institutions throughout her international residences where she developed a strong passion for the accessibility and pursuit of education, which led her to receive a Master's in TESOL at the American University in Cairo. Most recently, she served as a participant support specialist at a study abroad organization where she implemented intercultural conflict-resolution strategies and procedures, and collaborated with over 80 countries and their stakeholders, among them the U.S. State Department. Karina is delighted to provide her global and educational insight to strengthen and streamline strategies for student success in their quest for knowledge.
