From Evergreen Valley College to ASU: Abbi's Journey to a Nursing Degree Through MyPath2ASU
Arizona State University proudly celebrates Abbi Levine, who has graduated from ASU's Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Abbi's success is a testament to the power of determination, the support of MyPath2ASU, and the opportunity provided through the Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) in partnership with Evergreen Valley College.
A Pathway to Success: The Concurrent Enrollment Program
While completing her coursework at Evergreen Valley College, Abbi discovered the MyPath2ASU transfer pathway and the CEP program, which allowed her to take ASU classes online while finishing her associate degree. This concurrent enrollment option gave her a head start on her bachelor's degree, helping her stay on track while remaining debt-free.
"Being able to work toward my nursing degree at ASU while attending Evergreen was a game-changer," Abbi said. "The program gave me the flexibility to manage both workloads while staying on top of assignments."
Inspiration From Abroad: A Passion for Maternal Healthcare
Abbi's journey to nursing was deeply influenced by an experience abroad. While visiting Greece, she witnessed the incredible impact of a midwife on a local community. That moment sparked her passion for labor and delivery nursing and set her sights on one day becoming a nurse-midwife.
"Seeing the midwife's care and dedication in Greece made me realize that maternal healthcare was where I wanted to make a difference," Abbi shared.
Leadership and Growth at Evergreen Valley College
Throughout her time at Evergreen Valley College, Abbi took on a leadership role with the Evergreen Nursing Student Association (ENSA). As the class representative, she advocated for her peers, facilitated connections between nursing cohorts, and played a pivotal role in organizing the nursing program's pinning ceremony—a milestone moment for nursing graduates.
"Getting involved with ENSA gave me a chance to build relationships with students ahead of me," Abbi said. "They shared advice about clinical rotations and how to balance the demands of the program, which was invaluable."
Tips for Future Nursing Students
Balancing dual enrollment between Evergreen Valley College and ASU came with its challenges. Abbi credits her time management skills as the foundation of her success.
"Master your time management skills," she advises future students. "Balancing ASU classes with a rigorous nursing program takes planning. Getting assignments done early was my key to success."
Looking Ahead: A Future in Nurse-Midwifery
With her bachelor's degree now complete, Abbi is preparing for the next chapter in her nursing career. She plans to gain experience as a labor and delivery nurse before pursuing a graduate degree in nurse-midwifery. Her goal is to support and empower women through compassionate and informed maternal healthcare.
