Student Engagement

February 2020: Student Engagement Edition

Our Promise | Your Future

Students are faced with many choices as they navigate their educational attainment, including all of the factors that go into choosing the right school to complete their bachelor's degree.

When students choose Arizona State University, they receive not only a world-class education, but also a holistic approach to their success, every step of the way. And our transfer pathway programs further enable students to complete prescribed coursework towards earning their bachelor degrees, saving students time and money while minimizing loss of credit, and the guarantee of admission to their major of choice.*

What's more, ASU's eAdvisorTM assists students in monitoring their progress toward degree completion in a timely manner. And with 2 out of 3 ASU classes having 29 or fewer students, our student-to-teacher ratio is just 22-to-1.

ASU curriculum creates an ecosystem for innovation and lifelong learning by encouraging entrepreneurship, interdisciplinary problem solving and forward-thinking career preparedness. We invite you and your students to watch this inspiring video to learn more about their future at ASU.

Preparing for the Fall 2020 Semester

Students who are already planning on transferring to ASU should submit their application as soon as possible if they have not already done so. Upon submitting their application and activating their ASURITE UserID, they'll need to complete the following steps:

  • Pay the transfer application fee
  • Request to have official transcripts and test scores (if applicable) sent to ASU
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Search for scholarships

It's important to note that students can begin applying for scholarships as soon as they submit their admission application. ASU's Scholarship Portal makes it easy for students to search and apply for scholarships. In addition to college and departmental scholarships, there are also transfer-specific scholarships available. Completing the FAFSA may also make students eligible for additional scholarship opportunities and need-based financial aid.

Admitted students may seek out student employment opportunities as well. Student employment is a great way to gain valuable professional experience and to help cover the costs of education and living expenses. ASU employs more than 11,000 student workers in part-time hourly and Federal Work-Study positions. Students can search for, and apply for student employment via ASU's student employment website.

ASU's tuition estimator helps students' breakdown their estimated cost of tuition to help them plan ahead. Additional information is available about the cost of attending ASU and financial aid for transfer students, to help ensure a successful transition to the university.

And as always, we encourage students transferring to ASU to connect with our ASU Transfer Student Ambassadors to learn more about the ASU transfer experience. Hear from students who have already made the transition from community college to ASU.

What's Next: Transfer Guide and Pathway Updates

ASU's transfer pathway programs give partnering community college students access to ASU’s transfer tools, helping to create a seamless transition to ASU and successful completion of their bachelor degrees. By signing an ASU pathway agreement, students are able track their progress and earn guaranteed admission to ASU and their pathway major.*

The Transfer Guide, ASU's online transfer planning tool, assists students in determining how their community college credits transfer into their ASU major. Both students and the staff who support them have access to the Transfer Guide, where students can manage their transfer pathway, request course evaluations, learn how credits transfer to an ASU degree, and more.

We are very pleased to announce that enhancements to ASU’s Transfer Guide and pathway sign-up technologies will be launching this March. We look forward to sharing the updated transfer tools with you to better assist students in preparing for transfer to the university.

The ASU Academic Alliances team will be hosting a series of training and feedback sessions to support the transfer tool updates and how we can help you serve your transfer students. Stay tuned for more information, and email asuacademicalliances@asu.edu to schedule a training session that will work best for your community college.

*Some ASU colleges and schools have additional or higher requirements for admission into their programs.
