Transfer Student Spotlight: Megan Huff

From performing jazz in Chicago to pursuing a career in psychology, Megan Huff has always followed her passions. Now an Arizona State University student studying through ASU Online, Megan transferred seamlessly from College of DuPage in Illinois with the support of MyPath2ASU®—a step that’s bringing her lifelong dreams closer to reality.
Inspired by Family
Megan’s motivation for higher education is deeply personal.
“My father passed away when I was young, and he wanted me to go to college,” she shared. “I also have two older brothers and one younger, whom I want to be a good example to. I’ve found steady employment, but I feel like my calling is to help others directly through counseling or teaching.”
A Musical Chapter at College of DuPage
While earning her credits at College of DuPage, Megan found joy and community in the school’s chorus and jazz ensemble. She performed at the UIC Jazz Festival in Chicago, an experience she calls unforgettable. The friendships she formed through music continue to inspire her.
Why Psychology?
Megan traces her passion for psychology back to high school.
“My AP Psychology teacher showed me how complex the brain is and its connection to art,” she said. “After my own mental health struggles, I knew I wanted to pay forward what I learned to help others.”
Life with ASU Online
Now at ASU studying psychology with ASU's New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, Megan appreciates the opportunity to connect with peers from diverse backgrounds.
“We all have different but similar experiences, and it’s inspiring.”
She encourages future transfer students to stay committed to their studies and take advantage of ASU Online’s resources:
“Make time every day to focus on your classes. Look into career services and see how you can get more involved!”
Looking Ahead
After graduating, Megan hopes to travel before starting her professional journey in counseling or teaching. She’s also considering pursuing her master’s degree—and perhaps returning to her artistic roots.
“I love to write and sing—my dream is to be a singer! That one can wait for now, haha.”
