Daniel Frank

2025 Charter Professor

Associate teaching professor

Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering

Frank consistently exemplifies ASU’s Charter through a sustained commitment to inclusion, innovation, and community impact. His latest project, developing an electronic adaptation kit that transforms Power Wheels Jeeps into affordable mobility devices for children with disabilities, extends a long record of advancing access and empathy through engineering. By creating a low-cost, easy-to-use design that can be replicated nationwide, he not only promotes research of public value but also removes barriers that limit participation and independence for young children.

In past initiatives, Daniel has led assistive technology workshops and summer camps that engaged students in designing for children with disabilities, programs where 98% of participants reported increased interest in engineering and a deeper sense of social purpose. These experiences highlight his beliefs that education should empower both learners and the communities they serve.

Through hands-on projects, collaborative partnerships, and inclusive innovation, Daniel continues to embody ASU’s Charter by valuing whom we include, how they succeed, and how knowledge can tangibly improve lives. His work reflects a profound and ongoing responsibility for the social and cultural health of our communities, making him highly deserving of the Charter Professor Award.
