Gregory Broberg

2023 Provost Teaching Award

Associate Teaching Professor

School of Social Transformation

Broberg is an associate teaching professor in the School of Social Transformation’s justice and social inquiry faculty. A lifelong Sun Devil, Broberg’s faculty head describes him as exemplifying “all that is great about ASU, taking to heart the mission of advancing the success of every student he encounters, as well as the public good.” Broberg works to engage students in interactive exercises to promote critical thinking about complex justice-related concepts, using real-world case examples that highlight the establishment and impact of structural inequalities to better position students to dismantle such inequities in their future work. He has a clear commitment to excellence in pedagogy, completing the intensive 16-week long ACUE Effective Teaching Practices course offered through the provost’s office, and coaching his peers to implement learned techniques in their own courses. He has also played a pivotal role in curriculum redesign to support both transfer and 4+1 students, further realizing the ASU Charter’s focus on inclusive excellence.
