ASU's Salute to Service: Showing support for all who serve
Taking place November 8 through 18, 2023, Salute to Service is a celebration to honor and give our utmost appreciation to military service members past and present, first responders, frontline medical workers, and those who serve their community with a desire to help and protect others. Special Salute to Service events include panel discussions, movies on the field, the celebration of Native American heritage and the contributions of Native American veterans with a traditional Pow Wow, Sparky’s Tailgate, and more.
We invite you to check out the entire Salute to Service series of events, service member highlights, and the resources available through the Pat Tillman Veterans Center, the ASU Alumni Veterans Chapter and the MyPath2ASU® suite of transfer tools. Thank you to our many Sun Devils who live a life of service giving back to others!

A look back at Pathways for the Future scholarship awardee in honor of Salute to Service
For Gil Ruiz, the path to a college degree was not always straightforward. But thanks to Arizona State University’s Pathways for the Future program, the single father and military veteran has graduated with a BSE in engineering (robotics) from the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering.
Gil, an alumni out-of-state transfer student, and other transfer students and former military service members like him are finding that ASU resources like the PFF program and MyPath2ASU are helping them achieve academic success, not only by providing financial assistance, but also by allowing them to spend more time pursuing education and building professional networks. We invite you to read more about Gil’s inspiring story and watch his student story video.
