National Transfer Week at ASU

 

Welcome to National Transfer Week: The Transfer Trajectory into the Workforce: From Textbooks to Handshakes!

Celebrate transfer student success with higher education professionals across the country this week by strengthening your transfer knowledge and exploring new ways to enhance collaboration to support the success of transfer students. These virtual professional development sessions showcase MyPath2ASU pathways and partnerships and other best practices in transfer, innovative programs to support transfer students, transfer credit articulation, and data we can use to boost transfer outcomes.

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Daniel Barajas

Chief Officer, MCCCD Workforce and Economic Development Strategy 

Chief Officer Dr. Daniel Barajas, Workforce and Economic Development Strategy for the Maricopa County Community College District, will open ASU’s National Transfer Week celebration 2023. As our keynote speaker, Dr. Barajas will discuss MCCCD’s long-standing partnership with ASU as a model for partnerships on a national level for workforce development, and share the many opportunities that currently exist for community colleges in workforce development nationwide.

Daniel has over twenty-five years of experience working in post-secondary education within the community college system. He has held many positions in the academic and student affairs areas, with years of service as Dean of Academics and Career and Technical Education, before his current role. With a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University, Daniel has a passion for marrying educational opportunity and solutions to industry and community need. Daniel has served on many councils and boards during his career. This is exemplified in his past role as the President for the Arizona Occupational Administrators Council, and current roles as Board member for the Phoenix Business & Workforce Board and Arizona Chamber of Commerce: Arizona Manufacturing Council Member, among his many engagements. Daniel has enjoyed representing education to many industry partners during his time in education developing academic programs to meet industry needs.

Career-connected Learning: AAS to BAS Pathways in ASU’s College of Integrative Sciences and Arts

Encourage students pursuing career-connected pathways to explore BAS degrees in ASU’s College of Integrative Sciences and Arts. These degrees are designed with personalized career goals in mind while making students’ transfer experience as seamless as possible. Learn about Bachelor of Applied Science concentrations in animal biology, project management, technical communication and applied leadership.

Through partnering with community colleges across the nation and integrating self-service transfer tools like MyPath2ASU, we’ll collaboratively increase academic preparedness and academic outcomes, and ensure a seamless transfer experience for transfer students everywhere.
