The academic planning process is designed to initiate any of the following actions:
- establish a degree,
- minor, concentration or certificate rename,
- move or disestablish a degree, minor, concentration or certificate establish,
- disestablish or rename a department, division, school or college.
Statements of Collaboration and Impact
As part of the new academic program establishment process, units are requested to consider potentially impacted academic units and related programs. When a related program is identified, the dean (or dean's designee, at the associate dean level) should request a Statement of Collaboration and Impact from the dean of the impacted academic unit. Any research or support may be gathered by the curricular teams in the academic unit, but the statement should be discussed at the dean level.
The below template may be used by the dean to request a Statement of Collaboration and Impact.

The <College Name>’s is requesting a Statement of Collaboration and Impact for the following <Degree, Program Change or Course> in: <describe change>.
Please include a statement describing the opportunities for cross-university collaboration and optimization presented by this new program. How will the new program provide opportunities or areas for growth within the university? In what areas do you anticipate that there may be duplication of efforts or negative impact on your college? Also include a statement of support (or not) for the proposal.
