HLC Institutional Accreditation

Home / HLC Institutional Accreditation

Arizona State University is accredited, most recently in 2013, by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) to award baccalaureate, masters, doctorate, and professional degrees.

ASU is reviewed through the HLC Open Pathway process which follows a 10-year cycle and is intended to assure quality and continuous improvement. The process includes a quality initiative in years 5 through 9 and a comprehensive evaluation in year 10.

Assurance Argument

HLC will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of ASU to reaffirm accreditation during the academic year 2022-2023. The accreditation process is an opportunity for ASU to provide evidence in support of our commitment to meeting the HLC Criteria for Accreditation in our Assurance Argument. Preparation of the Assurance Argument is a collaborative effort involving stakeholders from across the institution to comprehensively represent the breadth of activities in support of our mission.

Quality Initiative

As part of the Open Pathway model, ASU has the opportunity to select improvement projects that are most aligned with the University’s mission and vision. Our quality initiative is focused on the assessment of student work products as it relates to the learning outcomes for general education in order to improve and enhance this critical component of student success.
