Interdisciplinary Committee on Linguistics

The Interdisciplinary Committee on Linguistics coordinates interdisciplinary linguistics courses and programs in reference to scheduling, advisement, conferences, lectures, evaluations, and information dissemination. The committee is administered through the Department of English, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and its scope is ASU (especially the Tempe campus, but not limited to the Tempe campus). Membership is by appointment.

The committee exists as the only venue for coordination and communication among the several graduate programs on campus related to linguistics. Those programs include, but are not limited to:

  • MA and PhD in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics
  • Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
  • MA in Spanish
  • PhD in Spanish Linguistics
  • MAS in Transborder Studies
  • PhD in Speech and Hearing Science

  • PhD in Comparative Culture and Language

  • MA in French Linguistics

  • Graduate Certificate in Computer-Assisted Language Learning

The Interdisciplinary Committee on Linguistics is also the coordinating body for a graduate certificate in linguistics. The committee also helps coordinate graduate course offerings in the programs related to linguistics. The committee co-sponsors occasional lectures and organizes major events related to linguistics across the ASU campuses.
